Ella Emhoff defends accusations she is losing her mind over stepmother’s presidency loss

Ella Emhoff, the stepdaughter of Vice President Kamala Harris, appealed on Instagram to clear her stepmother's name after her loss to President-elect Donald Trump.

On Wednesday, Emhoff was photographed sobbing during Harris' concession speech at her alma mater, Howard University.

In a post the next day, Emhoff reposted one of the photos with a caption explaining her emotional outburst.

“There are really no words. We're all going to get through this, that's all.” [f—ing] It hurts like [b—-] I’m okay now,” the post said.

Emhoff reassured her followers that she was not having a mental breakdown, dispelling rumors circulating that she had been institutionalized following the election results.

“There's a rumor that I went mentally ill and ended up in the hospital. That's not true. If you're spreading that, fuck you. There's nothing wrong with expressing your emotions and crying. You have feelings. “That was a good cry,” Emhoff said in an Instagram post.

“I've struggled with my mental health all my life and I'm not ashamed of it,” she added, adding that all she's done since Election Day is play with her dog Jerry .

This is not the first time she has been controversial, having made headlines for promoting Palestinian fundraising for humanitarian aid through the United Nations Relief and Works Agency. The Biden administration ended funding for the program over its alleged participation in the Oct. 7 attack.
