Elon Musk-led Tesla releases earnings today: What is in store?

Tesla will release its latest financial results on Wednesday afternoon. Shareholders and analysts will be watching closely.

The announcement comes as Tesla's stock price has risen more than 45% in the past 12 months. Meanwhile, the company's market capitalization remained at about $655.3 billion as of Tuesday night.

Several topics are possible.

Overall delivery goal

Tesla will likely reveal details of its overall vehicle delivery goals for 2024.

The company has an existing long-term goal of achieving a compound annual growth rate of 50%. The delivery target for 2023 was 1.8 million units.

Tesla announced earlier this month that the company produced about 1.85 million electric vehicle models of various electric vehicle models, on top of the approximately 1.81 million delivered last year.

According to reports, the company has implemented price adjustments for its models in some markets around the world, including China and the United States, over the past year.

Artificial intelligence and robotics

Tesla makes AI for use in electric cars, fully self-driving chips, neural networks, and other technologies. The company said its “primary focus” for AI development is software that “safely performs tasks in the real world.”

Tesla also offered a look at the robot's latest version, the second generation of Optimus, at the end of December, saying it reduced weight, improved balance and made other changes.

Musk has talked about both Tesla's AI efforts and Optimus during earnings calls in the past, and executives could do so again this time.

Tesla's CEO recently stated that he is “uncomfortable with growing Tesla into a leader in AI and robotics without having up to 25% voting power” and that if that is not possible. “We prefer to develop products outside of Tesla,” he said.

cybertruck

The company began the first deliveries of Tesla's latest vehicle, the long-awaited Cybertruck, at an event led by Musk in November. This electric pickup truck has three versions: rear-wheel drive, all-wheel drive, and “Cyberbeast”, and prices vary from $60,990 to $99,990 depending on the model.

Tesla released its overall production and delivery results for the fourth quarter earlier this month, but details about the Cybertruck were not included. Additional insight on this matter may be released by the company later this afternoon.

In October, ahead of the launch, Musk said demand for electric pickups was “unexpected.” However, he also pointed to its advanced technology, saying, “There will be major challenges in reaching mass production with the Cybertruck and then making the Cybertruck cash flow positive.''
