Emhoff blasts Huckabee Sanders's dig at Harris for not having biological children

Senator Doug Emhoff slammed Arkansas Governor Sarah Huckabee Sanders (R) for criticizing Vice President Harris for not having children of her own.

“Cole and Ella [Emhoff] “Being not Kamala's so-called biological child, she has nothing in her life to keep her humble,” Emhoff said at a campaign event in Brooklyn, New York, on Wednesday.

“As if keeping women humble, regardless of whether they have kids or not, is something we should be aiming for, that's not true,” he continued as the crowd applauded. “But looking back at the debate, Kamala certainly humbled Trump in that debate, yeah, because that's what the debate is really about.”

Sanders, a former press secretary to President Trump, criticized Harris during a town hall meeting with the former president, saying she has “nothing to keep me humble” because she doesn't have any children of her own. Sanders said Harris' children are “a perpetual reminder of what's important.”

The Republican governor also drew criticism from Brian Lanza, a senior adviser to the Trump campaign.

“I was blessed to have a stepmother myself, and that comment really took me the wrong way because without her I wouldn't be here and we wouldn't be having this conversation,” Lanza said.

“I don't know what else to say. I'm disappointed that Sarah would say that. I'm sure she'll face criticism from the campaign,” he added during the CNN appearance. “But I have to defend someone who is a stepmother. It's a tough job. People who take on that role often have a difficult dynamic.”

Kirsten Emhoff, the second gentleman's ex-wife, also defended Harris on Tuesday. post About X.

“Cole and Ella inspire us to make the world a better place,” she wrote. “I do that through stories. Kamala Harris has spent her entire career working for people, all families, and that makes us so humble.”

Emhoff also added during a campaign stop in New York on Wednesday that nothing is more important to him, Harris and his ex-wife than their children.

“And no matter how they become parents, we know that parents everywhere make the same sacrifices and experience the same joys of raising their children,” he said.
