End the mileage tax; make California affordable

California: High Taxes, Poor Outcomes

Why is it that Californians face some of the highest taxes in the nation while struggling with poor outcomes?

The state boasts the highest gasoline tax in the country yet has some of the worst roads.

California also has the highest income taxes and an unemployment rate that leads the nation.

Alongside the highest state sales tax, it grapples with a staggering poverty rate.

For 16 years, Democratic leadership has led to an inflated, bureaucratic system in Sacramento, and many Californians are starting to see the correlation.

The state is experiencing severe consequences, largely due to exorbitant taxes.

Things are worsening. The latest issue? Democrats are proposing a “mileage tax,” which would monitor and charge drivers for every mile traveled.

This could mean costs exceeding $1,000 annually, not to mention the intrusive surveillance aspect of this plan.

On top of that, there are various hidden taxes and fees, from gas taxes to exorbitant vehicle registration costs. In many other states, registration fees are under $100 annually, but in California, it can easily reach hundreds or thousands.

The burden of heavy taxes is driving out the people and businesses that are essential for economic growth.

Things are dire enough that even without taxes, there can be considerable negative impact.

Take the Democrats’ proposed “billionaire tax.” It’s, to put it mildly, a fundamentally un-American asset grab.

This potential tax has already contributed to $1 trillion in wealth fleeing the state, as reported by a notable tech and politics podcast. Many legendary entrepreneurs have sought friendlier environments, contributing to significant tax revenue loss.

If steep taxes don’t improve conditions for Californians, where’s our money going? It often feels like the more they take, the less we see in return.

Bits and pieces are beginning to surface.

The California Comptroller recently reported $24 billion in unaccounted spending on homelessness, even as that issue continues to escalate.

Some of this money has reportedly been misappropriated by a scammer rather than used to combat homelessness, as Assistant U.S. Attorney Bill Esseri has disclosed.

Additionally, Dr. Mehmet Oz recently highlighted $1.3 billion misused for undocumented immigrant medical care and rampant fraud within the hospice care system.

Isn’t it shocking that it might take federal intervention to start holding anyone accountable?

Where is Governor Gavin Newsom? His focus seems to be more on social media antics regarding President Trump instead of tackling these issues.

And what about Attorney General Rob Bonta? Engaged in endless lawsuits against the Trump administration instead of protecting taxpayers.

In California, lawmakers should prioritize protecting taxpayers by identifying and preventing fraud. Our funds should be managed responsibly, taking as little from us as possible while ensuring they are allocated effectively.

Unfortunately, the current culture reflects corruption and negligence.

I’m running for governor to change this. If the Democratic-led Congress introduces a steep mileage tax, I will veto it.

This past week, I announced plans to cap vehicle registration fees, with a base price set at $71.

But I’m not just waiting around for election results.

This week, I launched CAL DOGE, the California Office of Government Efficiency, staffed by skilled volunteers from finance, law enforcement, and government reform sectors. They’ll focus on identifying fraud and reducing government size.

We’ve already uncovered potential fraud numbering up to $250 billion.

My goal is to shut down “Califraudia” for good.

As governor, my main focus will be to put the hardworking people of California first rather than support the corrupt system that has emerged from 16 years of Democratic dominance.

Tackling fraud, cutting waste, and lowering taxes are critical components of my campaign to restore our state’s integrity.
