A man who became enraged after seeing his car being towed in Sunset Park Friday morning allegedly stole the tow truck and damaged multiple vehicles, authorities said.
Police said the man fled the scene in a tow truck, which was also towing his own truck, and struck several vehicles from the side.
According to police, the chaotic incident happened around 10:40 a.m. on 53rd Street between 1st and 2nd Avenues when a tow truck driver attempted to impound the man's vehicle.
Police said the man became enraged, pushed the tow truck driver, jumped into the truck and went for a short “drive” to 55th Street and 3rd Avenue, leaving a trail of damaged vehicles in his wake.
Police said the man then abandoned the truck at the intersection of 55th Street and Third Avenue and fled on foot.

The scene then cuts to the truck driving down a street, with the front door of the man's car swinging open, side-slamming into several cars before finally coming to a halt in front of a city bus.
Giro, whose car was badly damaged in the melee, said he hopes police catch him because he can't afford the repairs. News12 reported:.
“I need to call the insurance company or the police. I need this car to take my driver to school,” Girod said.
Police are currently searching for the man.
