Epstein Provided Financial Support for Former Obama White House Counsel's Luxurious Lifestyle in Exchange for Legal Guidance

Epstein’s Financial Ties to Kathryn Ruemmler Revealed

Newly released documents indicate that Jeffrey Epstein financed a luxurious lifestyle for Kathryn Ruemmler, a former advisor to President Obama and currently the general counsel at Goldman Sachs. He also occasionally sought her legal advice during this time.

From 2014 to 2019, Epstein gifted Ruemmler expensive items, including designer handbags and electronics, and covered her expenses for services like facials and spa treatments. Notable gifts included a $9,350 Hermes bag, a $6,790 Fendi item, and even financial support for a high-end Apple television.

Recent court documents from a civil suit filed by Epstein’s victims suggest that Ruemmler offered legal guidance on matters such as a 2008 non-prosecution agreement and his public relations strategy. Ruemmler has stated, however, that she “does not represent him and is not being compensated.” She characterized her relationship with Epstein as one where she gave informal legal advice.

Email exchanges previously made public show that she consulted with Epstein on various topics, including whether to accept a position as attorney general and logistical questions like whether to fly first class or business class to Dubai.

Goldman Sachs has yet to comment on these revelations. However, they noted that Epstein was known for giving unsolicited gifts to various associates. Interestingly, one email highlighted Epstein’s desire for Ruemmler to enjoy some pampering, noting that she had won a legal case. He went so far as to arrange a spa day for her, which he paid for.

Ruemmler expressed appreciation in her response, thanking someone for the arrangements made at Epstein’s expense. Moreover, he even sponsored her hair appointments and a first-class trip to Geneva during the holidays. Despite these generous gestures, Ruemmler, in her correspondence, seemed cautious about the implications, stating she never felt indebted and was uncertain about how she could repay him.

In emails from early 2016, it appears that there were logistical issues with some travel plans, including a missed flight. These conversations provide insight into their complex relationship, highlighting the blurred lines between personal and professional alliances.
