Allegations Against Errol Musk
Errol Musk, Elon Musk’s father, has been accused of sexually abusing his five children and even fathering a child with his stepdaughter, according to a recent investigation by the New York Times.
The report, which draws on police records, court documents, interviews with family members, social workers, and personal communications, outlines abuse allegations occurring in South Africa and California. The earliest of these incidents goes back to 1993, when a then 4-year-old stepdaughter accused him of inappropriate touching. Later, this same stepdaughter alleged that Errol had been caught sniffing her used underwear and claimed she gave birth to his child in her 20s. She has indicated that since then, she has struggled with substance abuse. Her mother, who was married to Errol twice, has faced mental health challenges as well.
Additional family members have reported that Errol abused two of his daughters and his stepson. The most recent accusation came to light in 2023, when a social worker got involved after Errol’s then 5-year-old son reported he had been groped by him.
While separate police investigations into these claims were initiated, it appears that two cases were closed, and the status of the third is still uncertain.
At 79, Errol has not faced any criminal convictions. He reportedly has at least nine children and stepchildren and has been married three times.
In response to the allegations, Errol called them “false and nonsense in the extreme.” He suggested that family members had urged children to make these claims as a way to financially benefit from Elon. The Times also mentioned receiving an email from Errol acknowledging one of the abuse claims and providing justifications for two others.
Elon, for his part, has spoken about his father in very harsh terms, even referring to him as a “terrible human being” in a 2017 interview with Rolling Stone. He conveyed that Errol has engaged in “almost every evil thing you could possibly think of,” suggesting that it’s all so extreme that it’s hard to believe.
