The guy in charge of the graphics for ESPN's famous Idaho Potato Bowl coverage was having a rough day.
The bowl game pitted the Northern Illinois Huskies against the Fresno State Bulldogs, and several times during the game Fresno State appeared to be given an unfortunate new nickname.
The score bug graphic had “Bourdons” written in it instead of the actual team name.
One such example captured by Awful Annunciation occurred during the first quarter after Fresno State completed a four-play, 90-yard drive with 1:08 left in the quarter.
It was a can't-miss moment for college football fans, and there was an uproar on social media over the graphical error.
“So when Georgia State plays in the Sugar Bowl, do we also say 'Bourdons' or shorten to 'Dongs'? #FresnoState.” ” one person joked online.
“Eh, @espn Who is Bourdon?” another person wrote.
“Oh, that's a classic matchup between the Huskies and the Bourdons.” Another user on X has joined.
“I need Bourdon gear right away.” 1 person added.
The day was even tougher for Fresno State fans as the Bulldogs trailed 13-3 at the half before falling to the Huskies 28-20 in double overtime.

Grayson Barnes made a 26-yard touchdown catch in the third quarter to cut Fresno State's lead to three points, and Northern Illinois kicker Kanon Woodill made a 34-yard field goal to tie the game. .
After Bryson Donelson briefly gave Fresno State the lead in overtime, Barnes made his second TD catch of the game in overtime.
Dane Pardridge scored the winning touchdown for the Huskies and also converted a two-point conversion.
Northern Illinois held off Fresno State in four plays and clinched the win in double OT.
