Ex-NBA player supports Karl-Anthony Towns following Knicks defeat

Sweetloo is ready to move past the cat controversy.

Social media buzz is growing as Knicks player Karl Anthony Towns faces backlash over his inconsistent showing during the Eastern Conference Finals against the Pacers.

The player, recently acquired by the Knicks just before training camp, is swirling in trade rumors as fans eagerly hope for a significant move to elevate the team.

Amidst the speculation, former three-time Sixth Man of the Year Lou Williams aims to reassure fans.

“They have to get off the cat,” Williams mentioned recently on “Run It Back.”

“We also need to stop letting social media dictate our general managers. Not many players can be traded with the expectation of improving the chances of winning,” he added.

“If there’s a chance to land someone like Giannis Antetokounmpo, sure, let’s explore it. But this was Towns’ first season with New York, and they made it to the Eastern Conference Finals.”

Towns averaged 21.4 points and 11.6 rebounds during the playoffs, a notable rise from the previous season with the Timberwolves, where he recorded 19.1 points and nine rebounds.

However, the series highlighted some defensive vulnerabilities, leading to doubts about his compatibility as a co-star with Jalen Brunson.

Fans are even suggesting that the 29-year-old, a recent All-NBA Third Team member, might be traded for better assets.

Concerns are also mounting for Coach Tom Thibodeau, who might face scrutiny despite guiding the team to its first conference final appearance since 2000.

While there’s uncertainty around any potential trades, speculation continues regarding Towns possibly being included in a deal involving Antetokounmpo.

Williams seems optimistic about the Knicks’ core.

“Give these guys some credit and the chance to improve,” he stated. “Reaching the Eastern Conference Finals should instill confidence in the group and the coaching staff. Don’t let a setback shake your faith in the future.”

Stefan Bondy points out that the Knicks could have proactively handled the situation by offering media availability like other teams do at season’s end.

The silence from the front office allows room for discussions about Towns’ future in New York.

“This is a crucial moment for Leon Rose to step in and publicly highlight the positive aspects of the season while supporting Towns. After a strong run, now’s the time to shift the narrative from the negative. Unfortunately, the current garden policy doesn’t encourage media availability unless mandated by the NBA.”
