A former intern of New York City’s Democratic candidate Zohran Mamdani has surfaced in a video related to the activist group “jihad.” This video encourages protests against “settler colonialism.” Hadeeqa Malik can be seen criticizing Muslims who haven’t joined her on the streets.
In the recently revived footage, she asserts, “True followers know that none of this is in vain, that this is all jihad,” using a term that signifies holy struggle in Islam. It’s worth noting that Mamdani’s father is involved with councils of anti-Israel groups that have connections to terrorism, including justifications for suicide bombings.
In the footage, Malik discusses the realities of protests, saying things like, “It’s okay, okay, what do you want to do?” She interned at Mamdani’s State Legislative Office during the summer of 2024, focusing on communications and outreach.
Interestingly, her profile indicates she recently started a role as an outreach coordinator focusing on American and Islamic relations. Additionally, Malik served as the president of the City College Branch for a group called Judicial Palestine from June 2024 to June 2025.
The unearthed materials from Mamdani’s time at university reveal writings that support anti-Israel boycotts while opposing what they refer to as “white privileges.” In a lengthy webinar, Malik responded to concerns around protesters potentially facing doxing or arrests, questioning how someone can continue to engage in activism. She emphasized that facing these risks for what they believe in is important and should not deter their efforts.
In a separate incident captured on video, Malik was seen confronting Muslim police officers amid protests against Israel. She used derogatory language towards the officers, implying they were bringing dishonor to their faith. Fox News Digital attempted to contact Mamdani’s campaign and reach out to Malik for further comments.
