Ex-Ranger Brady Skjei keeps Hurricanes alive with late goal

Highlights from the Rangers’ 4-3 overtime game against the Hurricanes on Saturday night in Raleigh, North Carolina:

1. Brady Skjei

Not only did the former Rangers defenseman score the game-winning goal with 3:11 remaining, he scored it on the power play, giving the Canes, who had held the man advantage without a hit in 16 games in the series, a huge boost.

2. Evgeny Kuznetsov

The veteran center, who was benched in Game 2 following an undisciplined penalty that cost Carolina a goal in Game 1, energized the Canes with a big goal early on.

In the third game of the series, Carolina led 1-0 1:51 into the game.

3. Frederick Andersen

The Carolina goaltender, who started on the bench in Game 3, wasn’t great, but bounced back very well after allowing the Rangers their third goal on a shot that hit the back of Alexis Lafreniere.
