Ex-Vikings player claims Minnesota Democrats are angry that ICE is 'deporting their voters'

Former NFL Player Critiques Immigration Enforcement and Local Leadership

A former Minnesota Vikings player has expressed concerns that immigration enforcement is adversely affecting the Democratic Party’s strategies.

Jack Brewer, who spent two seasons with the Vikings in the early 2000s after attending the University of Minnesota for three years, shared his thoughts on the ongoing situation in Minnesota. He noted that Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) faces considerable, often violent, opposition in the state, which he believes contributes to a perception among some that they are “attacking” law enforcement.

Brewer stated, “Something is wrong in Minneapolis. We need a citywide health behavioral assessment.” He further alleged, “We’re going to deport their voters. That’s part of what’s going on and it’s ruining their whole plan.” His comments highlight a belief that ongoing immigration issues could undermine local political dynamics.

The 47-year-old’s experiences working in developing countries, he claims, have taught him that strict immigration policies are essential because cultural values differ worldwide. He commented, “You can’t allow people into your country who don’t have the same morals and values as you. That’s what’s happening right now. Minneapolis is sheltering these thugs. It’s unbelievable. These people are the devil.” He elaborated, suggesting that differing cultural values should limit immigration to the U.S.

Brewer characterized Minnesota as the “chaos capital of America” in June 2025, chastising Democratic Governor Tim Walz for his perceived inaction. He criticized Walz as “weak and watered down,” emphasizing that such leadership does not reflect strong values.

Additionally, he commented on Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey, labeling his leadership as “absolutely ridiculous.” Brewer expressed regret over having received a key to the city from Frey in 2018, saying he wishes he could “lock that door in town and never let him in again,” adding that he believes Frey favors the Somali community at the expense of American cultural values.

Overall, Brewer’s remarks reflect a tangled perspective on immigration enforcement, local politics, and cultural values, presenting an impassioned viewpoint on the challenges facing Minneapolis.
