Two Florida teenagers have been identified and arrested after they were caught on surveillance camera kicking down a resident’s door as part of a social media challenge.
The Hernando County Sheriff’s Office said two 15-year-old boys admitted to kicking down the front doors of four homes and were arrested on multiple burglary charges.
Spring Hill police said they have investigated four reports over the past two weeks of unknown individuals approaching the front doors of homes in the early morning hours and kicking in doors, causing damage.
Officers said in some cases the force of the kick caused the door to open.

Police said the two juveniles, who lived within walking distance of four houses, admitted to kicking in the front door.

According to authorities, the teenagers told detectives they kicked the doors in response to a trend they saw on social media called the “door kick challenge,” and that they had no intention of entering any of the homes.
Several videos showing people kicking and knocking on doors in the middle of the night have gone viral on the TikTok app, sparking what has become known as the “door kick” challenge.

“This situation was extremely dangerous on several levels,” Sheriff Al Nienhuis said. “First, it was very possible that these young men would be shot and killed by a homeowner who was lawfully trying to protect his family. Second, if that happened, the homeowner would suffer the fact that he killed two teenagers who were participating in a mindless act.”

According to authorities, the two juveniles were arrested on four counts of burglary and were transported to the Hernando County Jail where they were later processed and released into the custody of their parents.
