PALM BEACH, Fla. — Former President Donald Trump told Breitbart News exclusively Wednesday night at Mar-a-Lago that he is “honored” to be chosen as the Republican presidential nominee for the third consecutive presidential election. However, he said he was concerned about the situation in the United States. America is in “deep trouble” as “insane” Democratic President Joe Biden remains in power for the next seven months.
“First of all, it’s an honor to represent the great Republican Party,” President Trump said in an exclusive 90-minute interview at an upscale seaside resort and club here in southeast Florida. “It’s very important. I expected it to be. I didn’t expect it to be this fast. There are some candidates who didn’t do as well as some people expected, who were tougher than they were. That’s what I thought.”
Trump’s Wednesday evening interview with Breitbart News, which covered a number of topics from immigration to trade to tech to China, comes after he formally shut out the majority of Republican delegates to this Tuesday’s Republican National Convention. This was the first paper interview conducted by. week. That means Trump will officially become the Republican presidential nominee again at the Republican National Convention in Milwaukee, Wisconsin in July, and is now the presumptive nominee. Big wins on Super Tuesday and in the primary states before that — from the Iowa caucuses, to the New Hampshire primary, to the Nevada caucus, to the South Carolina and Michigan primaries, with the exception of lobbyist-heavy Washington, D.C. He won every race leading up to the Michigan and Missouri caucuses. And every Super Tuesday state except Vermont, a stronghold of the hardcore left, blew away competitors, paving the way for early victories.
Reflecting on his successful Republican primary campaign, President Trump said he was proud of his team and the issues, policies and personalities they focused on during that period. But he said he understands there is a “long road” to the Nov. 5 general election and knows there is a big fight ahead against Biden.
“At the beginning, we still had a 25-point lead. It wasn’t close, but we could have caught up, but we ended up doing very well,” Trump said. . “I think we ran a very good campaign. We ran on other things as well, like policy, issues, and personality. I think the campaign got a really good reception. From people who don’t normally speak up. says it’s been an incredible campaign so far. To date. We still have a long way to go.”
President Trump also said that some decisions he made early in the Republican primaries, such as not holding a primary debate and early attacking Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, are now clear. He said he was clearly right.
“I could have had a debate. If it was even, I would have had a debate,” Trump said. “When Ron came in when we were leading by 40 points, I was surprised he was going in, because I picked him. I hit him hard early on. By the time he announced it, he was in a very difficult situation.”
Nevertheless, Trump is now focused squarely on November, defeating Biden, and then getting the country back on track and undoing the damage Biden did to America.
President Trump said, “This country is in a deep crisis.” “We have never been in so much trouble. We are in even more trouble, so [Vladimir] President Putin has no respect for us. Ukraine would never have engaged with Russia. Israel would never have been invaded. There will be no inflation because all inflation is caused by energy. On the first day, it was caused by energy. I think we are facing big problems as a country. There are just over seven months until the election, which seems like a short time, but this madman will be ruling this country forever. If we don’t win…I think November 5th will be the most important day in the history of this country. ”
More information will be released from President Trump’s latest exclusive interview with Breitbart News.
