House Republicans led by Rep. Pfluger in Texas in August, I sent a letter In support of President Donald Trump's efforts to support and protect the American industry, they said “completely contrasted” with former President Joe Biden's administration.

Pfluger pointed to certain cases regarding the Vulcan Materials Company, one of the largest producers of construction aggregates and an important part of infrastructure development in both the US and Mexico. In 1986, the company began construction and operation of a limestone quarry in Mexico. Mexico was able to supply Texas, Florida, North Carolina and South Carolina with important construction materials.

However, in May 2022, the Mexican government's military forces It was illegally invaded It closed its Balkan facility in Mexico and took away key construction materials from adjacent American states. Pfluger noted that the action not only disrupted the “building essential infrastructure projects” but also disrupt it.[put] American jobs at risk. ”

Meanwhile, the Biden administration rose to the ground and did nothing.

“Being accountable in Mexico sends a strong message that the US will fully support its business and workers.”

With Mexico's Balkan facility located less than 400 miles from American soil, Pfluger notes that there are also national security benefits and alarming economic benefits. The fact that Mexican troops illegally into American facilities without consequences sounded the warnings of Pragmer and his Republican colleagues.

But now with Trump in office, Pfluger and other House Republicans have expressed optimism about the new administration's trade policy and prioritization of American workers and industry.

“This is in stark contrast to previous administrations as the Mexican government was forced to close the Balkan material limestone quarry and Deepwater Port on the Yucatan Peninsula in 2022,” the letter wrote.

“We appreciate your leadership and your commitment to being first supportive of Americans [sic] Interested, it says, “Read the letter.” ”Mexico's accountability sends a strong message that the United States is fully supporting its businesses and workers. We are ready to support your efforts to protect American businesses and to hold allies accountable for the unfair treatment of American businesses. ”
