Concerns Grow Over Chinese Ownership of Golf Courses Near Military Bases
National security experts are raising alarms about reports that the Chinese Communist Party may be infiltrating the United States, particularly through two golf courses located near key military installations.
Recent news indicates that these golf courses, situated adjacent to Barksdale Air Force Base in Louisiana—an important hub for the U.S. nuclear arsenal—are owned by Chinese intelligence agents. This was first highlighted in a report by The Daily Caller, which gathered insights from various experts speaking to Fox News Digital.
Josh Hodges, part of the U.S.-China Economic and Security Review Commission, expressed that this revelation underscores long-standing vulnerabilities that the federal government has not adequately addressed.
“This situation serves as yet another urgent reminder,” Hodges noted. “The Chinese Communist Party focuses on proximity, influence, and exploiting weaknesses close to sensitive military sites, all while being intertwined with critical infrastructure like the U.S. power grid.”
Legislative Measures to Counteract Chinese Influence
Michael Rucci, founder and CEO of State Armor, emphasized that even though Louisiana is proactive in countering Chinese influence, more must be done to safeguard vital military locations.
“Louisiana lawmakers are at the forefront of combating Communist China, and today’s thorough investigation highlights the necessity for their efforts to persist,” he remarked. “Chinese intelligence officials’ acquisition of significant real estate near Barksdale clearly signifies a strategic and harmful agenda.”
Rucci warned that inaction could jeopardize U.S. security in the event of a future conflict with China. He insists that swift action is essential to prevent Communist China from owning property close to military and critical infrastructure, as this poses direct threats to national security.
Joe Grogan, a former official in the Trump administration, reinforced that this issue should not be misinterpreted as routine market activity. “It is simply unacceptable for Communist Chinese operatives to hold property so near one of our most vital strategic assets,” he stated. “This insidious infiltration should not be conflated with free enterprise. These land acquisitions undeniably present a clear and present danger.”
Grogan called for increased cooperation between federal and state agencies to counteract these threats effectively.
