Hurricane Beryl moved toward inland Texas on Monday and weakened to a tropical storm. Fox Weather The storm reportedly killed at least three people and caused flash flooding in the Houston metropolitan area.

A post shared on Facebook purportedly shows the chaos caused by the recent storms that hit Jamaica, with images showing two overturned lorries and downed power lines.

A text overlay reads: “Something terrible happened a few minutes ago. Hurricane Beryl has formed in Jamaica.”

The caption reads: “Beryl is devastating Jamaica as a Category 4.”

This claim is inaccurate. Reliable news reports, e.g. USA Todayhas denied the claim that the image was taken during Hurricane Beryl. The image has been used as a thumbnail for YouTube videos dating back to the 1980s. April 2024The video is titled “Natural Disaster! Chaotic Storm Hits Mexico! Damaged Buildings Destroyed.”

The image was also used in another video titled “Top Natural Disasters: 14 Minutes! China’s Most Terrifying Storm Caught on Camera.” thumbnail April 2024.
