Haverford College Professor Arrested for Online Harassment
Professor Guangtian Ha, teaching at Haverford College in Pennsylvania, has been arrested and is facing charges of online harassment and intimidation. He is alleged to have targeted a Jewish colleague with “heinous” antisemitic attacks, using multiple anonymous accounts on X to do so while also disparaging Trump supporters.
Ha, who specializes in religion, has been placed on administrative leave and is prohibited from entering campus as the legal proceedings unfold, according to President Wendy Raymond’s statement.
According to an indictment filed in the Eastern District of Pennsylvania, Ha is accused of sending approximately 50 messages to his victim through at least four different X accounts between October 9, 2025, and May 20, 2026.
Some of Ha’s messages reportedly included threatening and antisemitic language, and he allegedly posted personal information about his colleague, including their home address and other sensitive details.
President Raymond expressed deep concern over these allegations, emphasizing that harassment and discrimination are completely unacceptable at Haverford. The timing of these events is particularly troubling as they coincide with the Jewish High Holidays and the anniversary of significant attacks.
Columnist Steve McGuire pointed out that Ha, originally from China, was pretending to be a MAGA supporter online, despite being affiliated with Faculty for Justice in Palestine. His messages were described as filled with hate, including direct threats and slurs aimed at his Jewish colleague and their family.
Reports suggest that the victim’s family was so frightened by the harassment that they moved out of their home multiple times in search of safety.
Among the alleged messages were phrases like “Jew, get the fuck out of my country” and “Jews should be placed in special camps,” reflecting a deeply disturbing sentiment. Ha reportedly warned the victim that security measures wouldn’t be effective and that their future in America was grim.
Ha also expressed extreme and hostile views regarding Jews in general, stating that their presence in America was declining and advocating for violent and harmful rhetoric against them.
In an online interview, Ha showed a controversial perspective on the introduction of Islam in China, suggesting that its beauty should be showcased before discussing its political aspects.
