Deportation of Iranians Linked to Tehran Regime

Seven individuals connected to the Iranian government, including five previously reported by the Post as living extravagantly in Los Angeles, are facing deportation from the U.S. due to a major crackdown initiated by the State Department.

One prominent case is that of Seyed Eissa Hashemi, the son of Masoumeh Ebtekar, infamously known as “Screaming Mary” for her role as a spokesperson during the 1979 Tehran U.S. Embassy hostage crisis.

This week, ICE detained Hashemi along with his wife and child after the Post highlighted their lifestyle. Initially, family members reported him missing, but authorities later verified his arrest.

Just recently, two other individuals linked to the late General Qasem Soleimani were also taken into custody.

Hamide Soleimani Afshar, aged 47, and his daughter Salinasadat Hosseini, 25, had their green cards revoked on April 3. Afshar is Soleimani’s niece, and Hosseini is his grandniece.

ICE later apprehended them for deportation alongside Hashemi.

Notably, the mother-daughter duo garnered attention for posting provocative photos on social media while amassing luxury items. Afshar has been quoted expressing admiration for the Iranian regime, voicing support for military actions against U.S. forces, and praising Iran’s supreme leader.

In a separate incident, Dr. Fatemeh Ardeshir Larijani, linked to a senior Iranian official, and her husband Seyyed Qalantar Motamedi also faced deportation amid increasing political scrutiny.

Larijani held a position as an assistant professor at Emory University’s Winship Cancer Institute in Atlanta before encountering backlash due to her associations.

The comprehensive crackdown initiated by officials, including Marco Rubio, aims to ensure that individuals affiliated with anti-American entities do not benefit from living in the United States.

This initiative coincides with heightened U.S. efforts to identify and remove those connected to the Iranian regime. Immigration and Customs Enforcement is actively detaining individuals and revoking their immigration statuses.

The Trump administration has emphasized the urgency in expelling individuals associated with regimes viewed as hostile to American interests. Rubio remarked that the U.S. will not serve as a haven for those with affiliations to anti-American terrorist organizations.

“America can never be a home for anti-American terrorists and their families, and it never will be under the Trump administration,” he stated.
