Families of Oct. 7 Victims Rally at U.S. Embassy to ‘Let Israel Win’

Victims of the October 7 terrorist attack and families of fallen Israeli soldiers rallied Tuesday at the Tel Aviv branch of the U.S. Embassy in Israel to demand that the Biden administration allow Israel to win its war against Hamas. did.

The son of Bible scholar Dr. Sarah Schwartz, Sgt. Maj. David Schwartz, who fell in the fighting in Gaza, said, “They should support us not just with ammunition, but with the idea of annihilating Hamas.”

The Israeli public widely supports the ongoing attack on Hamas’ last stronghold in Rafah, southern Gaza, but the Biden administration vehemently opposes it.

On Tuesday, reports also emerged that the Biden administration went behind Israel’s back to urge Hamas to agree to a ceasefire on its terms as a way to deter Israel from invading Rafah. The US is also withholding some ammunition from Israel as a form of pressure.

The protests were reminiscent of February demonstrations in which thousands of Israelis marched in Jerusalem and demanded that their government continue fighting Hamas until it was victorious.

Such protests typically receive less attention than those calling for an agreement to release the hostages or for new elections, but they often represent a broader swath of Israeli public opinion.

Israel has recently seen protests on both sides of the issue, with demonstrators blocking roads in Tel Aviv to demand a hostage deal and demonstrators blocking roads in Jerusalem to demand the destruction of Hamas. There are also participants.

The Israeli public broadly supports both goals, but Israel is being forced to make a weak hostage deal that would allow Hamas to survive, resulting in the defeat of one of Israel’s main war objectives. Some people are concerned that this may be the case.
