Podcaster and writer Wajahat Ali recently expressed strong criticism towards white Americans supporting President Trump, proclaiming they have already lost the cultural battle for America. He referenced a Thanksgiving post by Trump where the former president presented a “reverse immigration” plan that would cease immigration from what he termed “Third World countries” and significantly cut admissions during President Biden’s term.
Ali, who has previously described white culture as unoriginal or borrowed, reacted vehemently to Trump’s statements. He urged hate-mongers to recognize their defeat, saying, “You lost. You lost. The mistake you made was letting us in in the first place.” Additionally, he emphasized that since 1965, after the Hart-Celler Act, the demographic landscape of the U.S. has changed significantly.
In Ali’s view, the culture associated with white Trump supporters lacks vibrancy. He bluntly claimed, “Your story is a terrible story full of misery… Your music sucks. Your whole culture sucks.” He suggested that for MAGA conservatives, it’s preferable to destroy everything rather than share the space they have in America.
Ali clarified his remarks were specifically aimed at “white MAGA voters,” not all white individuals, encouraging others to challenge racist attitudes among their families during gatherings. He stated the importance of discussing uncomfortable topics, urging that even seemingly well-meaning relatives can harbor prejudiced views. “This is what people of color say when we’re not looking… You have to have honest conversations with them,” he remarked on the need for candid discussions with family members.
Despite pushback, Ali later attempted to redefine his comments, suggesting he was merely targeting white supremacists and their unremarkable lifestyles, stating he does not hold an anti-immigrant stance.
