Farage Promises Action Against Grooming Gangs
Nigel Farage has revealed plans to release all government documents related to child rape grooming gangs. He aims to significantly increase funding for investigating this issue along with the local authorities and police forces that he claims have “enabled” such crimes against British girls.
On Saturday, Farage highlighted the urgent need for government action, calling the grooming gang scandal “the biggest national failure in British history.” He criticized areas led by the Labor Party for their lack of accountability and inaction.
In a post on X, he stated, “Public authorities and politicians aided and abetted the mass rape and sexual exploitation of children.” He specifically mentioned that primarily working-class white girls have been victimized by predominantly male gangs of Pakistani descent.
Farage asserted that mere investigations are insufficient, as situations like those in Wigan and Makerfield persist. He accused various politicians and media of maintaining a “conspiracy of silence” out of political correctness.
If given the opportunity, he vowed that his government would make all files related to grooming gangs available from the last 40 years within the first 100 days of their administration. Additionally, he promised to boost funding for the National Crime Agency’s task force on this issue from £100 million to £400 million annually.
This funding increase is intended to allow thorough investigations into local officials and social workers who may have colluded with the perpetrators.
Reform UK is planning to focus heavily on this topic during the upcoming by-election in Makerfield, particularly as it pertains to Andy Burnham, the mayor of Greater Manchester, who is being criticized for his response to the grooming gang crisis. Former police detective and whistleblower Maggie Oliver has accused him of covering up instances of child sexual abuse and failing to protect vulnerable girls during his tenure.
This week, Zia Yusuf, the shadow interior minister for Reform, remarked that Burnham is “trying to exploit the very community he betrayed” to gain power. Yusuf emphasized that Burnham had numerous chances to bring justice to the victims but instead neglected them.
A spokesperson for Burnham responded, saying he has always been clear about the deep harm inflicted on these young women and the need for truthful discourse around their experiences. They noted that he took decisive action shortly after taking office to expose systemic failures, leading to the arrest of some perpetrators.
