Farage Proposes Pension Stripping for Immigration Officials
Reform UK leader Nigel Farage has pledged that if his party gains power, officials responsible for allowing immigrant rapists into the UK will lose their pensions. The proposed funds would then be redirected to charities supporting victims.
In light of recent notorious rape incidents involving foreign nationals, Farage criticized what he sees as a “chunk” of civil service bureaucracies, suggesting they failed to prevent the entry of dangerous individuals.
Farage asserted that public servants who knowingly permit immigrants with a history of rape or sexual assault to enter the UK could face significant consequences. In the most serious situations, these officials might even be criminally charged.
“I will not permit the safety of our women and girls to be compromised due to misplaced liberal ideals,” he declared during an interview.
A spokesperson for the party highlighted that it is already illegal for the government to grant asylum to individuals who pose a risk to society. However, under pressure from the Labor government, Home Office caseworkers have been approving asylum applications for those with prior criminal charges. A Reform UK government intends to hold these officials accountable.
Additionally, the party is introducing a new criminal offense termed “faithless decision-making in asylum applications,” with penalties that could include up to two years in prison.
This announcement follows several high-profile rape cases linked to migrants in the UK, including an incident involving a 15-year-old girl in Leamington Spa. Recently, two Afghan teenage migrants, who crossed the English Channel and were later placed in taxpayer-funded housing, were found guilty of raping a girl.
According to various reports and police data, certain immigrant populations demonstrate higher arrest and conviction rates for sex crimes in comparison to other groups, though the government has not released detailed crime statistics, including the ethnicity or nationality of offenders. For instance, a report indicated that the arrest rate for sex crimes among Sudanese immigrants is approximately 1,200 per 100,000, while for Afghan immigrants, it stands at 1,009 per 100,000. In stark contrast, British citizens have an arrest rate of just 55 per 100,000.
Speaking on these reforms, a government representative emphasized that civil servants play a crucial role in securing Britain’s borders. In the past year, the government claims to have forcibly removed nearly 50,000 individuals lacking a right to remain in the country, with asylum-related returns increasing by 27%. They vowed to prevent foreign offenders and illegal immigrants from exploiting the legal system.
“We are revising human rights laws to broaden deportation measures and replacing an ineffective appeals system,” the spokesperson added.
