Versace Spent 11,000 Hours on Outfits for Beyoncé’s Tour
Donatella Versace, a renowned figure in fashion, revealed she dedicated an astounding 11,000 hours to design two outfits for Beyoncé’s “Cowboy Carter” tour.
In an interview with People published on June 11, Versace explained the effort involved in creating these stunning looks, which were first showcased at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in London. She mentioned that hundreds of thousands of crystals were utilized in the designs. Notably, Beyoncé played a significant role in the creative process, ensuring that her personal style was reflected in the outfits.
The initial outfit was a Western-inspired ensemble featuring intricate chaps adorned with hand-cut fringe, complemented by a crystal-encrusted bodysuit. Following that was a second look—a luxurious quilted ball gown showcasing the distinctive barocco print associated with Versace. Interestingly, Beyoncé had seen a glimpse of the gown in Versace’s Fall 2025 collection debut in Milan and added her own unique touches to it.
Versace mentioned, “She added the crystal embroidered boots, the Medusa Chain necklaces, and the cowboy hat to make it work for the tour.”
According to Marie Claire, Beyoncé showcased a total of eight different outfits throughout the North American leg of her tour. Given the extensive time required for just two of Versace’s outfits, one can only wonder how much time went into the entire stage wardrobe.
Versace expressed no regret over the time spent, sharing that the gown was her personal favorite. There was also a sentimental detail, as she noted it subtly honored her late brother, Gianni Versace, who passed away in 1997. She remarked, “Gianni started this silhouette with the very fitted corset and oversized skirt with a touch of cowboy back in the ’90s.”
Donatella described Beyoncé as “one of the most beautiful women in the world” and admitted that seeing her in the designs took her breath away. “When you design something for the catwalk, it is one thing, but then when you see Beyoncé bring a look to life and make it move so incredibly on stage, that gives me the greatest pleasure,” she added.
She concluded with praise, saying, “She is a goddess, one of the nicest people on the planet and a true superstar. I can see the clothes giving her confidence and how she uses them to enhance the performance.”
