Father accused of setting house on fire with his 3 children inside

A Texas father accused of setting his house on fire while leaving his three children inside has been charged with attempted murder.

fulshar police said Pedro Luis Parra Pulgar, 46, was charged with intentionally starting a fire while three children were inside in a house fire that occurred Nov. 6 in the 31000 block of El Dorado Lane in the Polo Ranch community. was arrested. Fulshear is about 40 minutes west of Houston.

Police said the suspect suffered serious injuries in the fire and was hospitalized for an extended period of time. He was released Thursday and taken to the Fort Bend County Jail, where he faces three counts of attempted murder.

434th District Court Judge Argie Blame set bail at $750,000 for each attempted murder charge, totaling $2.25 million, police added.

Police said two children escaped the fire with minor injuries, but a 3-year-old was trapped inside.

Police said officers heard faint noises inside the home and rushed in through a bedroom window to rescue the child, who was suffering from severe smoke inhalation.

The child was airlifted to a hospital, treated and later released, police said.
