Father Faces Murder Charges for Allegedly Throwing Toddler off Bridge in New York

A New York father allegedly threw his two-year-old son off a bridge, reportedly bragging to the child’s anxious mother shortly after.

The body, thought to belong to the young boy, was discovered in the Bronx River on Wednesday, leading to the arrest of Arians Williams the following Thursday.

Williams faces charges of murder and manslaughter related to his son’s death.

Evidence includes surveillance footage that supposedly shows Williams tossing little Montrell Williams into the river just before midnight on May 10th.

Prosecutors noted that the toddler appeared to be alive when last seen standing upright before being thrown off the bridge.

“Video footage clearly indicates that Montrell Williams was used as a weapon by the defendant,” Borgstead stated. “He literally tossed his young child off the bridge, leading to his demise.”

Interestingly, it was reported that Arians Williams previously worked as a teacher’s assistant, interacting with children until a domestic violence incident occurred last year involving Montrell’s mother.

On Wednesday, news outlets reported a child’s body, thought to have been carried away, was found near a bridge by Ferry Point Park in Queens.

The body was discovered wrapped in a blanket, dressed in a diaper and wearing socks on one foot.

Authorities indicated that the boy was last seen at his grandmother’s home, where he had been for a Mother’s Day gathering. Reports suggest there was a confrontation between him and the child’s mother.

The custody of Montrell was shared between his mother and father.

Reportedly, following the incident, Williams went to a relative’s house but fled when questioned about his son’s whereabouts.

According to police sources, Montrell’s mother contacted family court on May 30, expressing concerns about her son’s safety.

Borgstead mentioned that Williams confessed to the boy’s mother after a confrontation on the street, even threatening her with a knife.

Worried for her child, the mother reached out to authorities again. Williams was taken into custody after refusing to inform a judge about Montrell’s condition during a court hearing.

In court this week, Williams was denied bail.
