Brian Cole Sr. and Ben Crump’s Connection Amidson Arrest
The father of Brian Cole Jr., who stands accused of being a pipe bomber in Washington, D.C., has a past legal relationship with the same civil rights attorney who represented George Floyd’s family.
Ben Crump, a well-known attorney focusing on racial discrimination cases, represented Brian Cole Sr. in late 2021 when local prosecutors intervened to block the sale of his Tennessee bail bond business.
Crump and Cole Sr. asserted that the prosecutor, Rutherford County Assistant District Attorney John Zimmerman, was hindering the sale due to racial bias against the black owner.
“Ben Crump Law represented Brian Cole Sr. in a racial discrimination matter concerning his Tennessee-based company Free at Last Vail Bonding in late 2021,” Crump’s office informed the press. They noted that this engagement lasted less than a month.
The block on Cole Sr.’s business was reportedly lifted after Crump became involved, as reported by the Murfreesboro Daily News Journal back then.
Now, Cole Sr. is back in the news following the recent arrest of his son by the FBI. Brian Cole Jr. was taken into custody on charges of allegedly planting pipe bombs outside the Republican and Democratic National Committee offices in Washington, D.C. This event took place on January 5, 2021, the night before Trump supporters stormed the Capitol.
In a recent statement, a prominent law firm clarified that they have no legal ties to the suspected pipe bomber’s son. “Our firm has never represented his son, Brian Cole Jr., in any legal matter,” the office noted.
Crump is often referred to as the “Attorney General of Black America” by figures like Rev. Al Sharpton, and he has been integral to various high-profile cases that involve accusations of racial discrimination. His past clients include the families of George Floyd, Trayvon Martin, Breonna Taylor, and Ahmaud Arbery.
