Father Shot and Killed in Houston While Tracking Stolen Truck

On Saturday, in Texas, a father of five was tragically shot and killed after he used GPS to locate his son’s stolen truck.

Luis Erevia, 56, lost his life at the intersection of Airline Drive and North Loop (I-610) in Houston, as reported by the Harris County Sheriff’s Office. Investigators revealed that Erevia tracked his son’s truck to that intersection after a carjacker allegedly held his son at gunpoint.

Reports indicate that the armed carjacking occurred around 2 p.m. at a gas station near Tidwell Road and John Ralston Road. Following the incident, Erevia’s son reached out for help in locating the vehicle, and a 24-year-old friend also volunteered to assist. When Erevia and the friend spotted the truck at the intersection, they approached the suspects on foot.

The suspects, described as a black man and a black woman, reportedly fled the scene in a dark-colored pickup truck after shooting Erevia. According to KHOU 11, Erevia was in critical condition after being shot and was taken to a local hospital, where he later died. The 24-year-old friend suffered a gunshot wound to the back but is expected to recover.

The male suspect was identified as 37-year-old London Hogan Sr., who, according to ABC 13, has a prior criminal history. He had previously pleaded guilty in March 2024 for strangling his girlfriend and was sentenced to five years’ probation. He was later arrested for drug possession in January 2025, yet despite violating his probation, he only received a 30-day jail sentence.

As of now, Hogan Sr. faces murder charges after Erevia’s death, along with charges related to carjacking and shooting Erevia’s son’s friend.

In a press conference addressing the incident, Erevia’s sister-in-law, Amber Vallow, expressed her grief. “Louis meant everything to everyone,” she said. “Some of us are heartbroken and continue to grieve because he wasn’t here. We need justice for what happened to Louis. Louis was a good man.” She added, “This should never have happened. Let me be clear: look at this guy’s rap sheet.”

Detective Sergio Torres from the HCSO confirmed the details of Saturday’s incident, stating, “The male suspect produced a firearm and fired, causing the victim to sustain a gunshot wound.” The HCSO Homicide Unit is currently leading the ongoing investigation.

The Daily Caller reached out to the HCSO for comments but had not received a response by the time of publication.
