Father of Wisconsin school shooter taken into custody, facing charges

The father of a teenage girl involved in a tragic shooting at a Christian school in Madison, Wisconsin, has been arrested and faces criminal charges.

Jeffrey Lupnow, 42, is charged with two felony counts for allegedly supplying dangerous weapons to minors and one count of contributing to the delinquency of a minor.

His daughter, 15-year-old Natalie Rupnow, was responsible for the incident on December 16, 2024, where she tragically shot and killed her teacher and a 14-year-old classmate, injuring six others in the process.

During the investigation, Lupnow reportedly admitted to giving his daughter two handguns as gifts and providing her with the code to access the firearms safely. He also mentioned that after some shooting on a friend’s property, the teens became interested in guns.

Lupnow’s case adds to the growing list of parents facing charges linked to school shootings. Last year, the parents of Ethan Crumby from Michigan were found guilty of negligence related to their son’s shooting spree that resulted in four fatalities and several injuries in 2021.

If convicted, Lupnow faces up to six years in prison. His court appearance is scheduled for Friday.
