Tennessee Man Arrested After Child Pornography Found Following Family Cruise

A man from Tennessee, who has fostered around 20 children, was taken into custody in Florida due to the discovery of child pornography on his phone. This occurred as he returned from a family cruise, according to court documents.

Jason Alan Miller, 48, now faces charges for both transporting and possessing child pornography, as outlined in an arrest affidavit.

The affidavit details that a Homeland Security Investigations agent found a screenshot in a folder labeled “6yo_rare,” showing multiple images of child sexual abuse material.

According to the Broward County Sheriff’s Office, Miller was arrested on September 13 and subsequently booked into the county jail.

After an eight-day Caribbean cruise on the Carnival Horizon, he disembarked at Miami Port on a Saturday, accompanied by his pregnant wife and eight children, ages ranging from 5 to 12.

U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officials selected Miller for a secondary inspection upon arrival at the port, as noted in the affidavit.

During the inspection, authorities examined his belongings, including his Samsung Galaxy phone. Miller provided a passcode to unlock the device.

While checking the phone, CBP found several alarming photos stored in a folder named “Telegram” within the Google Photos application. The affidavit also mentions that images were located in the “6yo_rare” folder, with reports indicating there were 45 illegal images in total.

Miller acknowledged knowing that there was child pornography on his phone.

Reportedly, for the past seven years, he has raised approximately 20 children in his home.

If convicted on both counts, Miller could face a maximum sentence of up to 30 years in prison.
