The FBI and Maui Police Department are asking for the public’s help in figuring out what’s causing IEDs to appear across the island. The IEDs come in a variety of looks but are usually shaped like small, makeshift baskets.

“We urge the public to remain vigilant and promptly report any suspicious activity that may pose a threat to public safety. If you see anything suspicious on the roadway, such as an object that looks out of place, do not touch, climb over or approach it for any reason. If possible, move others away from the area and call 911 immediately,” an FBI spokesperson said in a statement. press release.

Investigators have not released the exact location where the explosives were found or how many have been recovered. No injuries were reported.
