The FBI and the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) announced that hackers from the People's Republic of China (PRC) have infiltrated a commercial telecommunications service provider in the United States.
Compromised organizations have been issued warnings, and government agencies are actively issuing warnings to other potential targets of cyber activity.
“The U.S. government's continued investigation into the People's Republic of China (PRC) targeting commercial telecommunications infrastructure has revealed extensive and significant cyber espionage activity,” the agencies announced in a joint release Wednesday. .

The agency said Chinese-linked attackers had infiltrated the networks of multiple telecommunications companies, stealing customer call log data and private communications of “a limited number of individuals primarily involved in government and political activities.” He said it allowed him to steal.
The joint statement said the Chinese officials also copied “certain information that is subject to requests by U.S. law enforcement based on court orders.”
“We hope that our understanding of these breaches will increase as the investigation progresses,” the agency said.

The agencies said they are working to “strengthen cyber defenses” and encouraged organizations that believe they have been affected to contact their local FBI field office or CISA.
