FBI Searches Homes Connected to Suspected Gunman

At a recent news conference, FBI Director Kash Patel announced that the bureau has conducted searches at the homes of the suspected gunman in Washington state and San Diego, California. This individual is believed to have ambushed two National Guard members.

The victims, Andrew Wolf and Sarah Beckstrom, both members of the West Virginia National Guard, were reportedly shot with a Smith & Wesson revolver at the Farragut West subway station in Washington, D.C. The alleged shooter, Rahmanullah Rakanwal, entered the U.S. in September 2021, having come from Afghanistan. Patel provided reporters with updates on the investigation’s progress.

“In conjunction with the U.S. Attorney’s Office in D.C., we executed various search warrants, including one at the suspect’s last known residence in Washington state,” Patel mentioned. “This search was carried out either last night or early this morning, and we’re actively continuing the investigation. Everyone found at the residence has been interviewed, and more interviews are underway.”

“We will not cease until we have spoken with every person connected to this suspect and their life,” he continued. “Additional interviews and investigations are taking place in San Diego as part of this ongoing inquiry. As highlighted by the judge, this is a comprehensive investigation being pursued right here in Washington, D.C.”

Witnesses have reported that Rakanwal shouted “Allah Akbar!” before opening fire on the National Guard, as detailed by journalist Julio Rojas. He relayed that one Guard member, who was unarmed, managed to stab Rakanwal with a pocketknife, while another soldier returned fire and struck the suspect, who was armed.

“I’ve had discussions with [CIA Director] John Ratcliffe and Secretary of War Pete Hegseth. Our focus includes examining Rakanwal’s background and his connections both overseas and withinthe United States. This represents a broad international terrorism investigation,” Patel informed the gathered reporters.
