Federal judge temporarily stops Trump admin from firing 11 intelligence officers assigned to DEI programs

A federal judge temporarily blocked President Donald Trump's administration from firing 11 CIA employees linked to the DEI program on Thursday.

The order of US District Judge Anthony Tranga delays employee firing for at least five days. Kevin Carroll, a former CIA officer who is a lawyer representing CIA employees, filed the lawsuit Monday, with 11 officers taking on temporary duties related to the DEI initiative, with none of them being He said he had not received sufficient performance reviews.

The order allows Trenga to weigh the legal arguments on both sides of the case, and is not a conclusive ruling regarding the case.

“These people are being fired for the assumption that they are left,” Carroll said in a statement.

The 11 officials are one of 51 CIA employees placed on administrative leave shortly after Trump took office and signed an executive order to remove the DEI program across the federal government.

The 51 officers were summoned to a visitor center outside the agency's high security perimeter in Langley, Virginia, and “confiscated” their identification, Carroll said.

Trump also tried to cut funding for federal programs that were not in line with his administration's priorities, leading to further legitimate fights.

Government Efficiency (DOGE), which works closely with Elon Musk, has drawn many lawsuits from Democrats and fired federal employees.
