Federal prosecutors ditch jobs in a huff, refuse to admit wrongdoing in ‘flawed’ Eric Adams case

Three federal prosecutors from the Southern District of New York resigned in protest on Tuesday. Celia Cohen, Andrew Rohrbach and Derek Wixtrom have left after accusing the Trump administration of Justice Department of Justice for putting pressure on New York Mayor Eric Adams (D) of admitting “fraud” in the corruption incident.

The three prosecutors were on administrative leave after Trump’s DOJ demanded fire in the lawsuit.

“No one, especially the former federal prosecutor, suggestions against it, are wrong and dishonest.”

According to the email obtained in New York Timesthe prosecutor said DOJ Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche “must express his regret and admit fraud by the office in connection with his refusal to dismiss the case” in order to revive.

They wrote, “When nothing is done, we will not confess any cheating.”

Prosecutors argued that the DOJ under the Trump administration “deciding that obedience will replace everything else and that we require that we waive our legal and ethical obligations in favor of directions from Washington.”

“There is no greater privilege than working for an institution that appoints the right thing to do the right thing in the right way, for the right reasons,” the prosecutor continued. “We will not abandon this principle to continue our work.”

“We’re resigning,” they declared.

President Donald Trump’s choice to lead SDNY, Jay Clayton took over the same day that the prosecutor resigned.

Five SDNY prosecutors have resigned since Trump’s DOJ asked for the dismissal of the lawsuit against Adams in February.

US District Judge Dale Hoe dropped the case on April 2nd on bias.

“To be clear, he wrote, the court again has not expressed any opinions on the merits of the case or whether Mayor Adams’ prosecutor should “go forward.”

“The court only points out that it is not authorized to request that it continues,” Ho continued. “In the end, the decision to cancel the prosecution is primarily in the political sector of the government, so it’s the decision of the public that really matters, not this court.”

However, he insisted on the DOJ’s request to dismiss the “budget smack” between Adams and the Trump administration. The parties have denied the claim.

Blanche It is listed “There was nothing” about DOJ’s decision to drop “faulty” cases.

“Everyone suggests against it, especially the former federal prosecutors, are wrong and dishonest,” he argued.
