Feds hit NYC Department of Education with subpoena as Adams admin investigations heat up

The Post reported that subpoenas have been sent to the city's Department of Education as part of a federal investigation into outgoing school principal David Banks and his brother.

The recently issued legal request, first reported by Politico, involves documents related to Banks and his brother Terrence Banks, a consultant who represents companies that have lucrative contracts with the city. sources told the Post.

Officials said the investigation focused on documents from the department's Office of Business and Finance.
A DOE spokesperson denied that specific officials personally received subpoenas, but did not deny that subpoenas had been served.

“New York City Public Schools does not comment on ongoing investigations,” the spokesperson said.
