Female boxer who lost at Olympics wins national title

An Olympic female boxer has won a national title in her homeland months after losing less than a minute to an opponent accused of being male in a controversial match.

At the 2024 Paris Olympics, Italy's Angela Carini withdrew after just 46 seconds during her match against Algeria's Imane Kherif. The boxer has been controversially rumored to have male chromosomes. Kerif won the gold medal.

However, multiple sources claim that Kerif is male. This includes the International Boxing Association and the World Boxing Organization.
