Fetterman Commends ICE for Capturing Child Sex Predators While Luna Advocates for the 'Death Penalty'

Democrat John Fetterman from Pennsylvania has expressed support for the recent actions taken by the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) in arresting over 200 illegal immigrants with criminal backgrounds, including offenses related to child sex crimes. In contrast, Republican Representative Anna Paulina Luna of Florida is advocating for the “death penalty” for these offenders.

Specifically, in the Houston area, ICE has detained 214 individuals convicted of child sex offenses over the last six months. This figure is significant, as it surpasses the total number of arrests made by the ICE Houston field office throughout 2024.

Fetterman, who has often diverged from his party’s stance on ICE, noted, “I don’t support or agree with all of ICE’s tactics and actions. But I fully support these moves. This will make our country safer and protect our children.” This position stands out in contrast to many of his Democratic colleagues.

Previously, Fetterman had called for the abolition of ICE, labeling the agency’s activities as “inappropriate and outrageous,” marking a notable shift in his rhetoric.

In a more intense response, Representative Luna did not hold back on her views.

“I’m going to the death penalty in person. Don’t pass, don’t raise $200,” she stated bluntly.

ICE has highlighted some of the notable arrests, including individuals like Jesus Gutierrez Millels, a criminal alien deported three times from Mexico, who was convicted of aggravated sexual assault of a child and driving under the influence.

Similarly, Manuel Antonio Castro Juarez from El Salvador was found guilty of sexual assault against a minor and had multiple charges related to illegal re-entries into the U.S.

Another case involves Sergio Rolando Galvan Guerrero, a repeat offender from Mexico deported three times, implicated in serious child sex crimes.

Paul McBride, the Acting Field Office Director for ICE Enforcement and Removal Operations in Houston, commented that the effective coordination of resources and expertise has led to the arrest of a record number of violent criminals, gang members, and child sex offenders. He emphasized, “We still have a long way to go to truly control this crisis, but the progress made in just six months has significantly improved the safety of our local community.”

McBride added, “We are working every day to target the worst offenders and restore safety to Southeast Texas.”
