Fetterman Meets Netanyahu in Jerusalem

Sen. John Fetterman (D-Pennsylvania) continued his first visit to Israel on Wednesday, meeting with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in Jerusalem.

“We stand with Israel and are deeply sorry for what has happened to our country, but I am honored to be here today,” Fetterman said in a statement distributed by his office.
The hoodie-wearing, first-term U.S. senator has defied the “progressive” left by siding with Israel and supporting the war with Hamas that began after Hamas carried out a brutal terrorist attack against Israel on October 7, 2023.

Prime Minister Netanyahu welcomed Fetterman, saying, “Israel can have no greater friend than Senator John Fetterman.”

The full text of Prime Minister Netanyahu’s statement, provided by the Prime Minister’s Office, is as follows:

We have been through some dark times during these bitter months of war, and I can say with confidence that Israel has never had a greater friend than Senator John Fetterman. Senator, welcome to Israel.

Thank you for your courage in speaking out, demonstrating moral clarity and courage, and for telling it like it is. We treasure our friendship always, but especially at times like these. Welcome, friend.

Netanyahu is scheduled to address a special joint session of parliament on July 24, but dozens of Democratic lawmakers are boycotting it.

According to the prime minister’s office, Fetterman was accompanied by Israel’s “minister of strategic affairs, the chairman of the National Security Council, the prime minister’s foreign policy adviser, and the U.S. ambassador to Israel.”
