Fetterman says Trump should be pardoned of New York conviction

Sen. John Fetterman (D-Pennsylvania) appeared on “The View” on Thursday, shortly after President Biden pardoned his son Hunter Biden, and said President-elect Trump deserves a pardon.

“I don't think there's any denying that the case against Hunter Biden is truly politically motivated, but I think the trial against Trump in New York is just as politically motivated,” he told host Joy Behar. I think that is also true.”

“I think a pardon is appropriate in both cases, and I think overall that these types of events have eroded America's confidence in this type of system, and that this type of system is being weaponized against political opponents. We cannot allow that to happen.” Added.

Earlier this week, Behar's co-host Whoopi Goldberg defended the president's decision to pardon her son.

“This is his right as president,” Goldberg said on “The View.”

President Trump has been indicted in New York over the hush money scandal. Judge Juan Mercian dismissed the case after the former president's legal team argued that his return to the White House would exempt him from 34 felonies.

Hunter Biden's pardon came as some shock because he had previously said he would not pardon his son, who was convicted in June 2018 on three charges related to gun purchases.

The president explained his decision in a statement earlier this week, saying, “No reasonable person considering the facts of Hunter's case could come to any conclusion other than that Hunter was chosen solely because he is my son. You can't, but that's wrong.”
