Fiesta Village Family Fun Park to Close After 50 Years

After over 50 years filled with birthday parties and family outings, a cherished amusement park in California is set to close its doors for good.

Fiesta Village Family Fun Park in Colton will hold its final operating days on July 10th and 11th. The park expressed gratitude to the many guests who have made it a staple of their family traditions.

In a message shared online, the park stated, “After more than 50 years of serving the Inland Empire, Fiesta Village Family Fun Park is closing.”

“This decision was not easy,” they added. “For decades, Fiesta Village has been a gathering place for families, forming friendships and creating memories.”

Initially opened in 1974, the park has been operated by Michelle and Patrick O’Brien since 2002.

The park started with a mini-golf course, go-karts, and water slides, eventually expanding to include features like an amusement park, laser tag, and a roller skating rink.

Michelle O’Brien shared with SFGATE that the increasing costs of operating the park, combined with declining attendance, made continuation unsustainable.

“The economics of the amusement park industry and what we do has changed dramatically,” she noted. “We’ve reached a point where it’s simply not feasible to continue.”

The O’Briens even attempted to find a buyer to take over operations but were unable to do so. Patrick O’Brien remarked, “I had no interest in it at all.”

This announcement triggered a flood of nostalgic memories online from past visitors reminiscing about their experiences at the park.

“We used to take field trips there,” recounted one user on Reddit.

Another added, “How many people went on their first date there? I did, too.”

One more user shared, “I remember going to the arcade and mini-golf with my uncle as a kid. My daughter recently visited on her school trip. It’s sad to see it go.”

In a heartfelt farewell, Fiesta Village invited families to visit one last time before it closes. “We encourage you to bring your family and friends to celebrate Fiesta Village one last time to laugh, play, and make lasting memories together,” they said. “Thank you for allowing us to be part of your lives and family traditions. We will always cherish the role Fiesta Village has played in bringing people together.”
