Fired L.A. Fire Chief Kristin Crowley Fights Back; Appeals to City Council

Former Los Angeles Fire Department member Christine Crowley has challenged Mayor Karen Bass' fire and has appealed directly to the city council to bring her back.

Pasadena Star News It has been reported:

The difficult battle now moves to city council, and Crowley needs support from 10 of at least 15 councillors to be revived. This is a very uncertain outcome.

“Today, Mayor Bus removed me from his position as fire chief at the Los Angeles City Fire Department on February 21, 2025, and I have notified the City Council of appeals as provided for in Los Angeles Charter, Section 5, Section 5.08(e), as the position of the Los Angeles Fire Department removed me,” Crawley said in a statement.

Under the city's charter, Crawley has 10 calendar days. The board could overturn bass behavior if two-thirds of the governing body vote, meaning that 10 of the 15 councillors vote to overturn the mayor's decision.

Bass suddenly fired Crowley last Friday. The two riot in the aftermath of the fire, with Crowley denounced the mayor's budget cuts for not being able to use enough personnel and engines, and bus accused Crowley of, among other things, of not letting her know why they didn't go to Ghana after being warned about an extreme wind event.
