Two firefighters suffered “moderate injuries” and four others suffered minor injuries, Feissner said. One firefighter was taken to Geisinger Wyoming Valley and the other firefighters were taken to Lehigh Valley Hospital in Hazleton.

Feissner said a preliminary investigation showed the rescue vehicle entered the intersection on a red light and began making a left turn, and the ladder truck had a green light on that was “activated by the ladder truck’s traffic light preemption system.” said. Feissner said the ladder truck swerved, but hit the rescue vehicle and then an embankment, trapping the ladder truck driver briefly. Both vehicles had lights and sirens operating.
