‘Firing Squad In The Circle’: Democrats Criticize ‘Ineffective And Complaining’ DNC Chair

Frustration is brewing among Democrats over the leadership of Democratic National Committee (DNC) Chairman Ken Martin, according to a report from Politico.

One anonymous member of the DNC expressed skepticism about Martin, describing his leadership as “weak and whimsical.” Another member added that he feels Martin has been largely “invisible” and has disappointed many during his early time in office.

Rahm Emmanuel, who served as Chief of Staff under former President Barack Obama, has commented that the DNC resembles a “circle shooting squad.” It’s notable that Emmanuel has hinted at a possible presidential run in 2028, while previously calling Democrats “weak and awakened.” He emphasized the critical moment facing the party, noting, “We are in the most serious existential crisis with Donald Trump both at home and abroad.”

He further criticized the DNC for, as he puts it, “spending six months on infighting” without making any significant progress, especially with the opportunities presented by the current political climate.

In related news, David Hogg, a gun control activist who became a DNC sub-chair earlier this year, has faced backlash from fellow Democrats after hinting at plans to challenge a sitting Democrat in an upcoming election. A vote on June 11 saw discussions about his potential removal from the Vice-Chair role.

Audio that was leaked recently indicated that Martin has doubts about Hogg’s capacity to lead effectively, raising further questions about party unity.

At the start of June, Randi Weingarten, a prominent union leader, announced her departure from the DNC, adding to the turbulence within the party.

One Democratic strategist mentioned to Politico that the DNC feels “weaker” than ever before, expressing concern about the inability to outline a clear vision for the upcoming elections. “There’s zero ability to chart the Democratic vision for 2024,” they remarked.

Reports have surfaced indicating that some DNC officials, facing a decline in donations, are contemplating borrowing money to meet ongoing financial obligations.

Wisconsin Democrat Mark Pokan vented on social media about the party’s internal messaging, expressing frustration over what he described as “embarrassing” communications. Meanwhile, California Rep. Ro Khanna emphasized the importance of inclusivity, advocating for a party that embraces a broader base rather than alienating members.

In a statement, Martin asserted his commitment to winning elections and addressing internal conflicts that don’t strategically serve the party’s goals. “I was elected chairman to help the party win,” he declared.

As of now, a DNC spokesperson has not responded to requests for comments regarding the unfolding situation.
