The Granite Construction Company has won the first border wall contract for Donald Trump's second term.
The contract is to extend the boundary wall along the southern border.

The US Customs and Border Patrol awarded a construction company that, in its first contract for President Trump's second term, about $70 million, to extend the wall along the southern border.
The deal employs Granite Construction Co., a California-based company that previously worked on government projects, and builds an additional seven miles of wall at the US-Mexico border in Hidalgo County, Texas. The Border Patrol announced the contract on Saturday, saying it aims to “close a critical opening” in a wall that was only partially built under Trump's direction during its first presidency. Former President Joe Biden frozen funds for the Border Wall Program when he took office.
US Customs and Border Protection (CBP) has awarded President Trump's first term contract for $70,285,846 for $70,285,846 to build a new border wall of approximately seven miles in Hidalgo County, Texas, within the US Border Protection (USBP) Rio Grande Valley (RGV) sector. The contract is funded by CBP's 2021 funding and closes a key opening in the border wall that was left incomplete due to a contract cancelled during the Biden administration.
The RGV sector is an area of false intrusion, experiencing the illegal smuggling of numerous individuals and drugs. Complete the boundary walls of these locations supports the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) capabilities, obstructing and denying illegal boundary intersections and cartel drug and human crowded activities.
DHS is working to implement President Trump's executive orders entitled “Securing Borders” and “Declaration of a National Emergency at the Borders of the Southern United States.” This directs all appropriate actions to deploy and build physical barriers to ensure full operational management of the US tropical border.
