The first migrant caravan of 2025 began its journey from southern Mexico with the aim of reaching the US border before Donald Trump's inauguration as US president.
Between 2,000 and 2,500 migrants began the first caravan of 20205 in the southern state of Chiapas. The group's goal is to walk to Mexico City to find an alternative route to reach the U.S. border and apply for asylum.
The caravan began early Thursday morning at Bicentennial Park in Tapachula, Chiapas. Officials from Mexico's National Migration Institute (INM), who spoke to Breitbart Texas, said the caravan was coordinated through social media messages and messaging applications, rather than posters and loudspeakers as in the past. revealed. This step was taken to avoid interference from authorities.

INM personnel and members of the Mexican National Guard were at the park and eventually allowed the caravan to move north. INM officers recorded footage of the group passing by while several local police officers helped direct traffic.

The caravan is the first of 2025 and the 10th since Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum took office in October. Members of the current and previous caravans have expressed a sense of urgency to enter the United States before President-elect Trump takes office.
