Five Charged in Cincinnati Mob Attack

Cincinnati police have indicted five individuals linked to a violent mob assault that took place downtown over the weekend. New details have emerged about a woman, captured in cell phone footage, who was punched in the face by an assailant.

Police Chief Teresa A. Tegge announced on Monday, “We have identified the victims and suspects. We have charged five people, and we expect there will be more. Anyone who physically assaults another person during this incident will face consequences.”

“A grown man striking a middle-aged woman is unacceptable,” one witness expressed. “He should face serious time in prison. Luckily, it seems there weren’t many bystanders.”

Fox News also reported that the incident is under investigation as a possible hate crime, with the assailant’s identity not yet confirmed.

The attack reportedly occurred just after 3 AM on Saturday, and police arrived shortly after the violence had subsided. Most of the assailants fled the scene, leaving the victims behind.

One of the victims, a woman in a blue dress, appeared to intervene on behalf of another victim but was struck in the back of the head by another woman before being punched in the face by a man. Footage of the incident shows the disturbing violence, especially around the 1:35 mark, though access to the clip is restricted unless signed in to the platform.

A close-up image of her face surfaced, showcasing the moment she realized help was coming, yet she appears stunned and unable to signal to them.

Vivek Ramaswamy, a candidate for governor of Ohio, mentioned in a post that “Holly,” the woman involved, had not been contacted by local officials by that afternoon. He expressed gratitude for the supportive messages he received from across the nation.

Vice President JD Vance criticized the attack, saying, “A grown man hitting a woman like this is beyond reprehensible. He deserves to be imprisoned.”

In the footage, the man who the woman was trying to assist was seen fleeing while being pursued by multiple attackers who brutally assaulted him.

Additional clips circulating show various angles of the violence, emphasizing the number of individuals involved. One video captures three men being attacked, where an assailant executes a wrestling move on one victim, while another clip shows a victim being dragged through the street.

  • A 23-second clip depicts three additional men being assaulted on the same street, illustrating the brutal nature of the mob.
  • In another 12-second video, a victim is unexpectedly slapped and dragged into the roadway.
  • An extended clip of 1 minute and 14 seconds hints at what led to the main altercation, showing the man in a white shirt actively engaging before the mob violence erupted.

More footage, shared on social media, appears to chronicle the moments leading up to the attack, showcasing escalating tensions prior.

Jason Whitlock, a host, commented on the incident, mentioning that claims of instigation regarding the assaulted man are “absurd.” He emphasized the unfairness of the situation.

This brutal incident has resumed discussions around public safety and the alarming rate at which such acts of violence occur.

Chief Tegge criticized the lack of action from bystanders during the attack. Despite the number of people recording the violence, only one person called 911, which she deemed unacceptable.

She added that posting clips online without context only complicates the investigation further.
