Authorities are looking into a shocking stabbing incident that occurred on a road in Purdy, Washington, resulting in the deaths of five individuals on Tuesday.

The Pierce County Sheriff’s Office confirmed that four adults and a 32-year-old male suspect, whose identity hasn’t been disclosed, were killed during the event. According to reports, three of the victims succumbed to their injuries at the scene, while the fourth was declared dead at a hospital.

In the chaos, officers shot the suspect, who was also pronounced dead on location.

The situation began shortly after 8:45 a.m. local time when the sheriff’s office received reports about a man who had violated a no-contact order by breaking into a home. Deputies were en route when multiple witnesses called in, describing a man “stabbing people” outside a residence. Authorities mentioned that the suspect was shot and killed by police just three minutes later.

The Pierce County Military Investigation Team is taking the lead on this case, and officials haven’t provided further details as of now.

Purdy, a small community near Gig Harbor in Western Washington, lies roughly an hour southwest of Seattle and about 20 minutes northwest of Tacoma.
