Flight with ‘fumes in the cabin’ makes emergency landing in Boston after striking a bird

The British Airways flight from Washington, DC to London was forced to make an emergency landing on Saturday due to a bird strike with smoke poured into the cabin.

Flight 216 took off from Dulles International Airport just after 5:30pm and detoured to Boston Logan International Airport about two hours later, “after the crew reported bird attacks and smoke in the cabin.” He told CBS News.

The Massachusetts Port Authority later confirmed the network had “a bird struck” and that the plane had safely landed.

The engineers were expected to inspect the Boeing 777, a spokesman for the BA.

According to the FAA, 19,400 bird strikes had been reported at 713 US airports in 2023 alone.

In December, a bird, sucked into the engine of an American Airlines flight, feared its passengers for life when the plane was forced to land at JFK airport shortly after taking off from Lagardia Airport.
