Police say a Florida man was drunk Saturday night when he stole a school bus and drove to Miami.

Daniel Saez, 32, of Land O’ Lakes, was charged Sunday with grand theft auto, according to FOX 13 Tampa Bay.

The Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) told the newspaper that the suspect stole a Hillsborough County Public Schools bus near Tampa on Saturday night.

Saez then drove from Tampa to Miami, about 450 miles away. It’s about 4 hours by car.

According to FHP, the suspect was stopped in Sarasota. He told authorities he was returning to Tampa from Miami to return a stolen bus.

Sarasota is approximately 90 miles south of Tampa.

The suspect admitted to stealing the bus and said he was drunk and high at the time of the crime.

After his arrest, Saez was taken to the county jail.
